Amplitude at The Boiler Room, Guildford
On Wednesday 3rd June, second year BTEC Music Performance students organised an electrifying event; 'Amplitude' and performed at The Boileroom in Guildford as part of their final show at college.
The ‘Music Project’ unit requires students to plan, organise and perform the entire event - the assignment was an opportunity for the students to gain first-hand experience of organising an event from the ground up. From forming bands, designing setlists, to sourcing the venue and promoting the show.
'Amplitude’ consisted of six bands across the evening performing an extensive range of genres. There was vibrant modern pop, ambient lo-fi jazz sets, to energetic rock and classic hits. Featured highlights included ‘Creep’ by Radiohead, ‘I Will Survive’ by Gloria Gaynor, 'Lush Life' by Zara Larsson and ‘Little Monster’ by Royal Blood which got everyone up on their feet! The crowd soaked up the energy and were singing & dancing throughout the night!
The event sold over 100 tickets, and everyone performed brilliantly. It was an amazing show and a fantastic way for all of the students celebrating the completion of their two-year Music Performance course.
