As part of the psychology A level course, our students learn about the psychology of the courtroom. This fascinating topic involves examining various behavioural factors that should not affect the verdicts reached by juries but nevertheless do.
To experience this first hand, a group of second year A level students recently visited the Crown Courts in Reading. They were able to sit in on the various cases being tried and had the opportunity to speak with one of the judges. Students saw witnesses being cross-examined, dashcam footage being shown as evidence, and got to hear jurors reach a guilty verdict. They also listened to leading questions being asked by one barrister and challenged by the opposing barrister!
