Today the spotlight is on our Learning Resource Centre (LRC) and all the fantastic learning aids available to students at the College.
The LRC offers four distinct areas across the campus for silent, individual and group study - The Dell, UpGrade, E-Assessment Centre and Library. All of these are manned by our Helpdesk staff who are able to offer assistance if required. There are over 300 computers for our students to use, all of which have Microsoft and Adobe packages installed and are linked to Canon multi-function printers.
The Library has 74 workspaces and a comfy seating area for students to read and relax. It is equipped with six static computers and 31 Chromebooks making the library a very versatile area to study in. In addition, there are an abundance of resources to help with student studies; 17,000 books, including subject text books and revision guides, over 50 journal titles, 60 subscriptions to online resources and numerous DVD's, CD's and daily newspapers.
All students can also borrow essential equipment including; external CD/DVD drives, card readers, headphones, micro USB chargers and nexus tablets. Every student is automatically enrolled in the Library so they can borrow items free of charge from day one.
The Library recently celebrated National Libraries Week showcasing its resources to new students and encouraging them to enter into a prize draw. The lucky winner was first year student Hannah who won a £25 Amazon gift voucher.
The Library catalogue and all online resources can be accessed on the LRC Study Directory pages, click here for more information.
