Quality in Careers Award
Posted on 28 March 2022

The Quality in Careers Standard is the national quality award for careers education, information, advice and guidance (CEIAG) in secondary schools, further education colleges, and work-based learning.  It is one of the highest accolades an organisation can receive for excellence in this area of work.  The College was first awarded this in 2008, and it is now The Prospect Trust Careers Services’ fifth successful reassessment, which shows their continued commitment to ensuring that every student has access to high quality careers education, information, advice and guidance, to support positive progression and pathways.

Nikki Coleman, Head of CEIAG, said, “I am delighted that the team has been recognised as fully meeting all of the accreditation criteria.  During the COVID-19 pandemic lockdowns, the team showed resilience and adaptability, ensuring that the service provided to the students continued seamlessly and professionally via a number of platforms.  This led to the highest number of careers interviews being conducted in any year for the College.”

Baljinder Sangha, Lead CEIAG Advisor, commented, “Since the previous assessment, the criteria has become more stringent and requires submission of additional evidence via an electronic portfolio; we are therefore extremely pleased with the outcome!”

Sue Whittaker, Assessor, said, “There are many areas of excellent practice at the College.  These include strong Senior Management, an experienced and committed Head of CEIAG, with the support of a team of careers advisers, work experience coordinators, and tutors of whom collectively provide a comprehensive careers guidance programme.”
