Here at Farnborough we are proud of our unique programme of pastoral care, which ensures that all of our students are supported personally, as well as academically.
When you join you will be assigned a Personal Tutor who will be with you throughout your two years here. Wherever possible this will be the person who interviews you.
We have a team of specialist Personal Tutors, all of whom are experienced post-16 teachers. They will assist in guiding you through choosing a programme of study, i.e. your timetable.
Some of you will find choosing courses easier than others, so we provide a number of opportunities for you to visit the College to discuss the options available.
You will be assigned to a tutor group where you and fellow students, from a mixture of secondary schools, will have a timetabled weekly tutorial with your Personal Tutor. Don't worry if you are the only person from your school because at the beginning of term sessions are focused on getting to know everyone in your group.
Each tutorial forms part of an overall programme which is packed with activities designed to help you get the most out of College.
All students will participate in the Prospects Diploma. This is an important opportunity for you to showcase your transferable skills as required by universities and employers. Your Personal Tutor will help you to set up your Prospects Diploma and you will then spend one period a week working on this. The programme is split into four areas and you will be able to reflect on your progress and achievements in each section. The four areas are:
